Burgers are a staple for most red-blooded Americans’ and Denver has made a name for itself in this food group.
Where are the best burgers in Denver?
We’ve listed a few of ours below.
Among the sea of burger places in Denver, Hopdoddy Burger Bar at 1747 Wynkoop St. in the Union Station building is a standout with their all-natural Angus burgers hand-ground every day and served on fresh-baked buttery buns, also baked in-house daily. They have moved to the top spot for us over our beloved Crave Burger.
For National Cheeseburger Day, forgo the expected burger with cheddar and instead pull up to the Primetime, an artisan burger with Akashi beef, truffle aioli, arugula, caramelized onions and Hopdoddy’s own housemade steak sauce. The cheese, of course, is a velvety bloom of brie cheese, a creamy balance to the smoky high-end burger. Get it with Kennebec hand-cut fries or a farm-fresh salad and wash it down with craft cocktail from the inventive menu – we recommend the LoDo Sweet Tea with house-made limoncello, Deep Eddy Sweet Tea vodka, fresh-made raspberry puree and a squeeze of lemon to toast the holiday. If you aren’t concerned with calories then indulge with their off-the-hook chocolate-covered pretzel Nutella Milkshake. OMG, it really is to die for.
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse may not be known for its burgers but believe us when we tell you that you won’t be disappointed at the ones this legendary steakhouse will cook up for you. Del Frisco’s is located in the Denver Tech Center off I-25 & Orchard is serving up their Denver Cheeseburger dressed with bacon knots on top, yes you read that right bacon knots, onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, pickles, cheddar cheese, and a heaping side of french fries. Pair it with a Colorado Beer on the menu and celebrating National Cheeseburger Day at Del’s just doesn’t get any better! This special burger can be found on the bar menu.
In Cherry Creek’s Del Frisco’s Grille at 100 St. Paul St. National Cheeseburger Day is a natural fit for the award-winning Grille Prime Cheeseburger. It is an ooey, gooey concoction of double meat, double cheese, and a signature Sloppy Sauce that has 38 ingredients and oozes gently into the toasty bun, twin patties and cheese blend creating a melty concoction that will knock your socks off. The two-fisted burger arrives at your table with a cone of perfectly salty fries, a tiny bottle of ketchup and is the perfect ratio of prime beef, sharp cheddar, and salty oozing goodness. A prime cheeseburger calls for a prime cocktail, and the Grille suggests the Kilt Lifter, a refreshing pick me up to perfectly accompany the burger with Hendrick’s gin and the fresh taste of St. Germain, finished with a peppery splash of Tabasco and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
National Cheeseburger Day is Sunday, September 18, and what better time to catch the brand new Knockoff Burger at Punch Bowl Social at (65 Broadway. With two grass-fed hormone-free patties, comeback sauce, pickled onion, lettuce and American cheese, all on a sesame seed bun, this cheeseburger just might bring you back. Did we mention it was created by Celebrity Chef Hugh Acheson? This seasonally inspired burger from Punch Bowl Social’s scratch kitchen is filled with nostalgia. Keep that old-school feeling going and enjoy vintage arcade games, bowling, ping pong, foosball and darts along with your cheeseburger and fries.
Crave Burger landed in Colorado and has made quite the splash with not only VERY unique and decadent burgers but add to that “adult milkshakes” and Christmas fries and you have a must-try place that should get its spot on “Diners Drive-in’s and Dive’s” someday soon.
Check out the “Luther” burger. Yes, that’s donuts for buns!
Or check out the Drunken Onion with cabernet caramelized onions, Gruyere, Swiss, and French onion soup for dipping with sweet potato fries. Another favorite is the Christmas Fries smothered half and half with green and red chili. YUM! They actually do offer a side salad with sliced strawberries and a raspberry vinaigrette that’s very good in place of the fries.
Parker Garage
If you are out south of Denver Metro we highly recommend the grass-fed beef burger at Parker Garage. It is served with fries that you can bump up to truffle fries or opt for a salad dressed lightly in their house vinaigrette. This locally owned and operated spot has other fabulous food as well and has a unique history of being the “Parker Garage” back in the early 1900s, being renovated into a restaurant called “The War Horse” in the 80s when the building was bought by the current owners and husband and wife team Brent & Meghan who wanted to bring the bones of the building back to its origins. Parker Garage is a chef-driven culinary-inspired restaurant located right in the heart of downtown Parker. It has been designated as a Parker landmark and was restored back to its original state in 2014. Executive Chef, Duy Pham, has been an innovator in Denver’s dining scene for over 25 years. His intention-based menu unites refined dining and local seasonal ingredients.
