The community performance of Handel’s Messiah in Parker is performed each December with full orchestra and solos at the Parker United Methodist Church and marks one of many marvelous local events that highlight the Christmas Holiday season in Parker CO.

For many people, this event marks the official start of the holiday season!
All high school students and adults of all ages are welcome to come and participate in the community chorus portions of this piece of sacred holiday music written by G.F. Handel and performed with a full orchestra. (See Below)
Community Messiah Sunday, December 15, 2024.
This year there is only 1 performance and 2 community rehearsals.
This year Parker UMC has partnered with guest conductor David Rutherford. David has been involved in nearly every aspect of music from performance to teaching, conducting and broadcasting. This is an exciting change to be working with such an amazing conductor and group of musicians for the 2024 performance.

2 Community Rehearsals in the Sanctuary at Parker UMC:
(Choir) | Rehearsal (Informal) Wednesday December 11th | 7-8 PM
7:00 – 8:00 PM Rehearsal at Parker United Methodist Church (Ensemble Only). Bring your Messiah Books and plan to go over the large chorus numbers.
(Choir) | Rehearsal Saturday December 14th | Arrival at 8:45 AM, 9 AM Start
9:00 – 9:15 AM rehearse chorus alone (with keyboard), orchestra breaks
9:15 – 11:00 AM full rehearsal – orchestra, chorus, soloists
The Messiah selections are presented on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the 9 services with a live orchestra. All singers in the community are welcome to join the fun.

Paul Ijames joined PUMC as the music director in January of 2023 although he has been part of the team for several years. Paul is a pianist and organist originally from North Carolina. He has studied piano performance at various universities and has played for over twenty years. Paul loves music and uses his abilities to enhance the worship experience at PUMC. Paul directs Chorale & Cambiata. In his spare time, he loves to travel with his family, practice music, DJ at weddings and events and work as a freelance web developer.
